How to use McKesson 4×4 Silver Collagen Dressing?
- Debride and irrigate the wound bed with an appropriate wound cleanser or distilled water before application. The use of saline may affect the efficacy of the silver. Cut the dressing to fit the exact wound size.
- For heavily exudating wounds, apply the dressing directly to the wound bed.
- For dry wounds with very little exudate, moisten the wound bed with distilled water to begin the gelling process.
- Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing. Change dressings daily or as good nursing practice dictates.
When to change the dressing?
Change dressings daily or as directed by a healthcare professional.
Precautions:
- If sensitivity to Mckesson Collagen Dressings with silver develops, discontinue use.
- Dressing may be used under compression therapy under the supervision of a health care professional.
