How To Use FLOWASSIST Baseplate and Drainable Pouch?

1. Wash your hands and ensure the skin around the stoma is clean and dry. Shave any hair around the stoma if necessary.
2. Using scissors, cut the baseplate opening to match the size of the stoma. Refer to the stoma size guide on the back of the baseplate. WARNING: Do not cut the FLOWASSIST Spout
3. Warm the baseplate by holding it in your hands for 30 seconds.
4. Remove the plastic liner.
5. Position the FLOWASSIST Spout below the stoma or rotate to align with the opening of the stoma. Apply the adhesive side of the baseplate to the skin around the stoma and gently press in place for 30 seconds.
6. Attach the pouch to the baseplate by placing your fingers underneath the floating flange and pressing the two plastic click rings together. Start from the bottom and work your way around until the rings are fully clicked together.
7. Close the Drainable Pouch by folding the drainable outlet upward twice. Secure with hook and loop fastener.
8. Empty the Drainable Pouch by releasing the hook and loop fastener, unfolding the outlet, and pinching the sides over a toilet.

Changing The System

1. Remove the pouch by holding the baseplate firmly against your abdomen with one hand and using the other hand to gently pry the pouch click ring away from the baseplate. You may attach a new pouch (Step 6) or change the whole system.
2. Remove the baseplate by gently peeling it away from your abdomen. Use your second hand to support the skin adjacent to the baseplate as you peel. Use adhesive remover if desired.
3. Dispose of in a safe and approved manner in accordance with local regulations. Do not flush down the toilet.

   The FLOWASSIST Spout is made from a soft and flexible polymer to ensure comfort for the user.

3. Can I use the FLOWASSIST Baseplate with other pouch brands?

   The FLOWASSIST baseplate is not compatible with other pouch brands.

4. Does the FLOWASSIST Baseplate work well with Oval shaped stomas?

   Yes, the Baseplate is designed to work with oval shaped stomas. The user should cut the opening as close to the stoma size and shape as possible, while not cutting the FLOWASSIST spout. Accessories such as barrier sheets, paste, etc. can be used to fill any gaps.

5. How does FLOWASSIST help to protect the skin?

   There is inner protection integrated in the baseplate where the Spout is located, from approximately 4 – 8 o’clock around the opening, which will protect the underlying hydrocolloid in this critical region.
